ALNA-ANCHOR LODGE NO. 43, A.F. & A.M.
Damariscotta, Maine

To the Grand Lodge Officers, Permanent Members, and the Officers and Members of the Subordinate Lodges of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of the State of Maine:

The Officers and Brethren of Alna-Anchor Lodge #43 of Damariscotta, proudly presents the name of:

RW Brother Ralph G. Knowles
as a worthy candidate for the office of
Junior Grand Warden

at the next annual communication of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Maine to be held at Ellsworth, Maine on May 6, 2008.

::RWB Knowles was raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason on February 14, 1979. Served as Master in Alna-Anchor Lodge #43 Damariscotta 2003 and 2004. He is presently Lodge Historian, Chairman of the Trustees and on the Care and Share Committee. He was instrumental in helping to restart the Lodges' Square and Compasses Club, and in refurbishing and refreshing the Alna-Anchor Lodge Hall, and has assisted with the Child Identification Program.

Brother Knowles has faithfully served the Grand Lodge of Maine as District Representative for the 10th District in 2003 and 2004, and then as District Deputy Grand Master in 2005 and 2006. He is currently Vice President of the Past District Deputies Association and a Masonic Ambassador and coordinator for the 10th District.

Brother Knowles is also a member of the Valley of Rockland and Maine Consistory of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Kora Shriners of Lewiston and the Midcoast Shrine Club.

In the community he is a past board member and trustee of the New England Baptist Council working with [Ocean wood] and Groton Baptist camps, and a past Trustee and chair of the Bremen Union Church. He is presently a board member of the Damariscotta Lake Watershed Association, and a past Chairman of the Watershed Committee. A member of the American Legion, he served his Country in the United States Air Force. He is a retired Police Officer and currently employed as a Service Manager for a local oil company.

He has been involved with raising funds for the CHIPS program, Grand Lodge area's High School Scholarship program, assisting with the Scottish Rite Family Life Essay Program and in helping provide support for the community's Teen Center as well as helping to raise funds for the Salvation Army Christmas food baskets.

RWB Knowles has served the Craft with distinction since he became a member and we entertain no doubt that he will continue to do so if elected to the office of Junior Grand Warden of this Grand Lodge.
