Grand Secretary Candidate Announcement
I joined Governor William King Lodge in 1967 and was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason on February 29, 1968. I started through the chairs that year and served as Master of my lodge in 1974-75. I remained active in my lodge and served a second term as Master in 1986. I was elected President of the Gov. William King Temple Corporation in 1974 and have held that title, with the exception of one year, to this time. I was elected Secretary of Governor William King Lodge in 1988 and served in that capacity until the year 2001.
In 1979, I helped organize the Maine State Police Masonic Degree Team, which replaced an earlier degree team which had been deactivated in 1967. I served as Master of that degree team for five years; during which time we raised fifty-five Master Masons in lodges all over the State of Maine. The Maine State Police Masonic Degree Team is still active today after twenty-two years of excellent work.
I served as District Deputy Grand Master of the Seventeenth Masonic District in 1982 and 1983. I was appointed as Grand Senior Deacon of the Grand Lodge of Maine in 1988. Additionally, I have served on several Grand Lodge Committees, including the Finance Committee, the Committee on the Condition of the Fraternity and the Commissioners of Trials. In May, 1999, I was elected Grand Secretary of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Maine. I was reelected to the office in 2000 and again in 2001. I have enjoyed serving in that capacity and hope to continue to serve the Brethren and their Blue Lodges in the future.
On March 12, 1976, I joined the Scottish Rite, in the Valley of Portland and on June 5, 1982, I joined the Shrine at Kora Temple. I served as Thrice Potent Master of the Yates Lodge of Perfection, Valley of Portland, from 1991 to 1993. I was the recipient of the Honorary 33rd Degree of the Scottish Rite at the Supreme Council at Boston, Massachusetts on August 31, 1993.
