How to Join the Masons

There's nothing mysterious about it!

To become a Mason, you must ASK! A long-standing tradition in Freemasonry is that a man must come to the organization of his own free will and accord, uninfluenced by mercenary motives. The requirements for joining are straight-forward. You'll find them by looking at this page. If you meet the requirements, it's then up to you to proceed.

Just ask us...

You don't need to know any secret handshakes or read a bunch of centuries-old rituals on the internet. JUST ASK! It's the easiest thing to do.

You may find that a relative is a Mason: they'll be more than glad to answer any questions you have and get you off on the right foot. Sometimes you'll find Masons at work or school: they'll give you good advice and help direct you to a lodge. If you don't know anyone, simply make contact with a lodge in your area. (List here.) They will be happy to assist.

If those sources are not available, you can contact the Grand Lodge Webmaster who will ensure your request is passed to the appropriate party for response. PLEASE REMEMBER: this applies to those who are residents of Maine seeking membership in a Maine Masonic Lodge. If you do not meet this criteria, please refer to the website of the state/province or country (if overseas) where you are seeking membership.
