William George Peacher
Tenth Fellow, The Maine Lodge of Research
The Maine Lodge of Research is pleased to announce the election of Brother William G. Peacher, MD as its 1992 Fellow in Masonic Research, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field.
Brother Preacher was born June 1, 1914 in New Brunswick, New Jersey, the son of William C. and Georgianna Peacher. He is the father of five daughters, and presently, eight grandchildren. He is an active member of DeWitt Community Church in Riverside, California.
Professionally, Brother Peacher is a noted neurological surgeon in Riverside. His medical and teaching career extends over a half century, including work as attending neurologist and consulting or attending neurosurgeon in more than two dozen hospitals in the United States and overseas.
He is the author of many articles and several books on neurology, neurosurgery, speech and Chinese medicine. He is a member of some 26 professional societies.
His interest in things historical is indicated by his membership in over 20 historical and library associations as well as numerous other community and fraternal organizations.
R.W. Brother Peacher's Masonic career has been an outstanding one. While his primary interest is in research, he has held many offices and positions of leadership in constituent and Grand bodies.
He is a past presiding officer of all York Rite bodies and the Lodge of Perfection, AASR among others. In Grand bodies, he has been Grand Historian of the Grand Lodge of New York; Grand High Priest of the Grand Chapter, Royal Arch Masons; District Deputy Grand Master, Grand Council, R&SM; Deputy Grand Commander, Grand Commandery, Knights Templar, all of New York; Associate Regent, Sovereign York Rite College of North America; Sovereign Grand Chancellor, Grand College of Rites; Grand Master, Allied Masonic Degrees; Supreme Magus, S.R.I.C.F. (Masonic Rosicrucians); Great Prior, C.B.C.S.; and M.E. Great Chief, Knight Masons.
Other memberships include the Shrine, Royal Order of Jesters, H.R.A. K.T.P., National Sojourners, Red Cross of Constantine, Royal Order of Scotland, Knights York Cross of Honor, Eastern Star, Order of the Bath and Order of Corks.
Despite the many honors and offices he has held, Bill is probably best known for his work in his favorite field as a Masonic researcher and historian. He is the author of countless articles and papers on these subjects. He is a member of some 36 research lodges and chapters in the United States, Canada, England, France, Australia and New Zealand.
