About the Maine Lodge of Research
The Maine Lodge of Research was organized April 21, 1979 and received its charter as a constituted Research Lodge July 26, 1982. Its membership now totals about 350 from around the state, the country and the world.
The purpose and function of the Lodge is to provide a forum for the study, discussion and diffusion of Masonic knowledge, and to promote interest in speculative Masonry. Its research deals not only with the historical and philosophical aspects of Masonry, but also with the problems confronting the Craft and the challenges of the future.
The Maine Lodge of Research publishes a volume of transactions annually, containing papers which have been presented in the lodge, and other material of concern to the craft.
Membership is open to individual Master Masons in good standing in Maine lodges and those in jurisdictions in fraternal relations with the Grand Lodge of Maine. Subsidiary membership is open to any lodge, library or other Masonic body recognized by the Grand Lodge of Maine.
