Newsletter from the Grand Secretary
Hollis G. Dixon, Grand Secretary
November 2009
The One Hundred and Ninetieth Annual Proceedings: I am pleased to be able to report that our Annual Proceedings book for the Masonic year 2008 – 2009 has been printed and will be in the mail shortly. Each of our lodges should receive their copy in the mail within the next week or two.
Matching Grant Programs: The Grand Lodge Fundraising Committee has been busy developing new matching grant programs. R. W. Walter E. Kyllonen, Chairman of that committee, has drafted the following explanation of those programs and his message is as follows:
The Masonic Charitable Foundation of the Grand Lodge of Maine has adopted two additional matching grant programs available to lodges for use on a continuing year round basis. The part time trial run over the past two years for Youth Activities and Project Graduation fundraising activities matched with up to $500 from the Masonic Charitable Foundation has proven to be successful. Those two programs along with the Community Betterment matching grant program are now available to be used anytime throughout the Grand Lodge fiscal year extending from April 1st to March 31st. Constituent Lodges may apply for a matching grant for each of the three programs once during the fiscal year. The new simplified forms are attached to this newsletter. Once a planned youth or project graduation fundraiser by a Lodge is complete, fill out all information requested on the form and forward it to the Masonic Charitable Foundation with the fundraising proceeds. A check will be returned to the Lodge made out to the benefiting organization listed on the form and will include the sum fundraised by the Lodge and up to a $500 match from the Masonic Charitable Foundation. The Lodge may then choose how they wish to make the presentation of the check.
Grand Lodge Forms: Many of the Grand Lodge Forms that Secretaries need to work with have been updated and placed on the Grand Lodge Web Site. Just go to: www.mainemason.org The new forms designed for the matching grant programs will also be submitted to the Web Master for possible inclusion on the Grand Lodge Web Site.
(Webmaster note: these matching grant forms can also be downloaded from the web site)
Fraternally,
Hollis G. Dixon
Grand Secretary
