Newsletter from the Grand Secretary

Hollis G. Dixon, Grand Secretary

June 2006

Constitution Updates:  Recently, we mailed four printed copies of updates to the Constitution and Standing Regulations for the Master, Wardens and Secretary of each lodge.  They include the updates from the 186th annual session of Grand Lodge. We will try to get this year’s amendments to you as soon as possible. Please make sure that each of the above named officers’ takes a moment to replace the revised pages in his copy of the Constitution.

Lost and Found:  At the 187th Annual Session of Grand Lodge, someone lost a gold Tie Bar with three Masonic emblems on it.  If the Mason that lost it can advise us which emblems were on his Tie Bar, we will return it to him.

Secretaries Workshops:  We are preparing to schedule a number of Secretaries Schools to be held in the southern part of the state; starting in June.  We will try to start with the Nineteenth; Tenth and Fourteenth Districts.  They will be held on Saturday mornings with coffee and donuts served at 9:30 a.m. and the school commencing at 10:00 a.m.  These schools generally take three hours to complete.  Secretaries may be certified to access the Grand Lodge Database for their own particular lodge via the Internet.  Brother Tom Heath will present a power point program to train those Secretaries that are interested.  Once the exact locations have been confirmed, we will mail notices to all of the Secretaries in the District where the school is to be held and the two adjoining Districts.  We will have the information on these schools listed on the Grand Lodge Web Page as well. Any interested Secretary who is unable to attend one of these schools should make his interest known to the Grand Secretary, as we will be scheduling additional schools in other areas of the state.

By Law Revisions:  We are still receiving By Law Revisions without the official Form attached.  If you do not have the proper form to include with your proposed revisions, you can download it from the Grand Lodge Web Page.  We have also posted a detailed Guide to be used while drafting your report for submission to the Grand Master.  It should make your job easier if you are not familiar with this process.

Ambassador Program:  On May 1st, Grand Lodge held a training program for Lodge Ambassadors in conjunction with the Supreme Council, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, and over two hundred Masons attended.  Everyone that I have spoken with that attended the program thought it was excellent.  The Supreme Council paid for all expenses. Since then, I have had a number of Masons, who were unable to attend, ask if they could receive a copy of the book, which was issued to all attendees.  I have been advised that a person must attend the program in order to receive the book. Additional training sessions will be scheduled in the near future.

Fraternally,

Hollis G. Dixon
Grand Secretary
